Smart Girl Politics Condemns ABC News for Selling Obama Administration’s Ideas to the American People
June 16, 2009 – Washington, DC – Smart Girl Politics strongly condemns ABC News for becoming a mouthpiece for the Obama Administration. ABC News has announced that it will host a primetime conversation with President Obama about the national health care fiasco. This rare opportunity allows the Administration to air its side of the debate, once again showing the extreme liberal bias of most of the main stream media.
The President, his Administration, and the democratic Congress should have the same opportunity to discuss, debate, and respond as conservatives, Republicans, and the rest of the American people. Says Founder and President of Smart Girl Politics, Stacy Mott, “ABC News can no longer be seen as a serious news organization. Instead, the Obama Administration is simply using the channel as a campaign advertisement. Should the FEC look into in-kind contributions?”
Congressional Budget Office (CBO) issued a report yesterday that stated that the Democrat’s health care plan will cost $1 trillion and leave 36 million Americans uninsured. 24 million people will be forced out of their current insurance plans. Like the so-called “Stimulus bills”, the reckless overspending of this Congress and Administration continues. This time, it is with our health care, our safety… our lives.
Smart Girl Politics is firmly against socialized health care and “Medicare for All”. For months, we have been emphasizing the negative impact that Obamacare would have on women’s health issues, such as breast cancer. We have provided extensive information on our websites and reached out on the airwaves and used our base and extensive online presence to initiate letter writing and calling campaigns. Issues such as TRICARE, information safety, and prescription drugs have all been discussed.
ABC News should allow not just President Obama, his Administration and the democratic Congress a national forum. With 40% of the American people currently identifying themselves as conservative, and 51% of people in the US being women, we all deserve a chance to be heard.
