“Sack” the Czars

As the size of the federal government continues to grow at an alarming rate, the number of czars appointed by President Obama has grown at an equally alarming rate. Now their proposed government takeover of health care would create a new “Healthcare Czar.” The government should not be running banks, car companies, or our nation’s healthcare. And we definitely don’t need all these czars!
I recently introduced the Sunset All Czars (“SAC”) Act, which will sunset all of these czars who have unbridled powers without the accountability that comes with the constitutionally required Senate confirmation process. (HR 3569 http://www.thomas.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c111:H.R.3569:) requires all of the President’s czars to be removed from their appointed, non-confirmed offices by the end of this year, eliminates appropriations to fund these positions and their offices, and requires Senate confirmation of any future government official with czar-like powers.
It is time we restore transparency and fiscal responsibility to the U.S. Congress.
