Knight-16-3In the last few weeks, it seems we’ve had a lot of set-backs in our fight to secure our great republic.

A little more than a week ago, after crafting backroom deals behind locked doors, a bill to nationalize healthcare was passed by the House in the dead of night. Then the jihadist-in-army-clothing murdered 13 (Actually 14, when you count the little one yet unborn.) noble Americans at Ft. Hood. And, just last week, the U.S. Attorney General, who had pledged to uphold our Constitution and to protect our nation against enemies both foreign and domestic, announced that these very same enemies would now be accorded our blood-bought Constitutional rights since they will be tried in criminal courts within our American judicial system.

“For look, the wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart. When the foundations are being destroyed what can the righteous do?” (Psalm 11:2-3, NIV)

I think you’ll agree that pretty much sums it up, in the words of the Psalmist.

But before you “flee to the mountains” (v. 1), I invite you to also consider this:

“The Lord is in his holy temple; the Lord is on his heavenly throne. He observes the sons of men; his eyes examine them. The Lord examines the righteous, but the wicked and those who love violence his soul hates.” (Psalm 11:4-5, NIV)

When the word “Lord” (or, sometimes “LORD”) is used in the Psalms, it has been translated from the Hebrew “Yahweh.” And one of the meanings of this word is “one who fights for us.” Now isn’t that comforting?

But it gets better.

“On the wicked he will rain fiery coals and burning sulfur; a scorching wind will be their lot.” (Psalm 11:6, NIV)

God promises us that the wicked won’t keep getting their way. There will be a price to pay, as only God can demand it.

Lastly, consider this:

“For the Lord is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face.” (Psalm 11:7, NIV)

So our God, our Lord, the Creator of the Universe, will bring justice, as only the Most Holy can; as only the Sovereign God should, for this retribution is not ours to exact.

So, take heart, dear Sister Patriots, we have a Champion who fights for us. And that champion is the Lord, God of Abraham and Isaac, the Triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
