<div>Upon celebrating the 4th of July, the birth of our nation under the Declaration of Independence in 1776, I couldn&#8217;t help but wonder what direction our nation is free-falling to. Our Founding Fathers risked everything to fight for a country that they believed in. A free country. A country where &#8220;all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.&#8221; When America finally won her Independence from Britain, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights were written with the purpose of limiting government. We fought for Independence and they knew that we needed to preserve it. We needed to create a country where the strong arm of the government could not interfere with our right to live free. Are we still that country? The country that stands for freedom and an individual&#8217;s right to earn a good life? I am not so sure anymore. There are more and more people out there that think they deserve a good life and that the government should provide it. The current Democratic controlled Congress and <a class="zem_slink" title="Barack Obama" rel="homepage" href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/">President Barack Obama</a> are only too happy to comply with this.</p>
<p>Since his inauguration on January 20th, President Obama and Congress have been spending tax payer money uncontrollably, have taken over a portion of the auto industry, are setting the stage to control and regulate more of the banking industry and Wall Street, and now they want to take over the health care system and pass a Cap and Trade bill that will raise prices for all Americans on everything from heating your home to things you purchase at the store. If the Cap and Trade bill passes in it&#8217;s current form, a government agency will be created that will inspect your house before you can sell it and tell you what improvements need to be made to meet government &#8220;green&#8221; regulations. Just as medical decisions should be made by a doctor and the patient, shouldn&#8217;t improvements on a home be made between the buyer and the seller based upon an independent home inspection? Not according to the current administration and those running Congress. They know what is best for every American.</p>
<p>Our President couldn&#8217;t even get off the fence to come out with a strong stand on Iran, the election and the protests for freedom. First he said,&#8221;We&#8217;re still waiting to see how it plays itself out&#8230;.&#8221; and that &#8220;The difference between Ahmadinejad and Mousavi in terms of their actual policies may not be as great as has been advertised. Either way we are going to be dealing with an Iranian regime that has historically been hostile to the United States.&#8221; I am sure to the people protesting, there was a difference. To many who were protesting, it was not so much that Mousavi himself didn&#8217;t win, it was the idea that Ahmadinejad could take an election illegally. Obama claims he didn&#8217;t want to &#8220;meddle&#8221; in Iran&#8217;s problems, but by making these comments and belittling what the people there were protesting, he did. If there was no difference between Ahmadinejad and Mousavi and both regimes would be hostile to the U.S. anyway, then why be so timid and not condemn the actions of the government?</p>
<p>It was only after coverage of the protests increased and the tragic shooting of a 26 year old woman by the Iranian Basij Militia while exiting a car, that President Obama decided to speak with stronger criticism on the actions of the <a class="zem_slink" title="Politics of Iran" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics_of_Iran">Iranian government</a>, &#8220;When a young woman gets shot on the street when she gets out of her car that&#8217;s a problem.&#8221; Mr. President, it is more than a problem, it is murder.</p>
<p>Now to the complete other end of the spectrum, when the Congress and <a class="zem_slink" title="Supreme Court of the United States" rel="homepage" href="http://www.supremecourtus.gov/">Supreme Court</a> of Honduras had their military remove the leftist leaning President Zelaya, Obama came out quick. He claimed immediately that it was &#8220;not legal&#8221; and that Zelaya should be reinstated as President. In fact Zelaya was corrupt, had mismanaged finances of the government and was trying to circumvent the Constitution of Honduras by extending his term of office. The Congress agreed with the Honduran Supreme Court&#8217;s ruling that Zelaya was in violation of the their Constitution and the military complied by removing Zelaya. As Hans Bader stated in his article, <a href="http://www.examiner.com/x-7812-DC-SCOTUS-Examiner%7Ey2009m7d5-Will-Obama-blackmail-Honduras-into-installing-a-bullying-wouldbe-dictator">Will Obama blackmail Honduras into installing a bullying would-be dictator?, </a>&#8220;The Honduran military&#8217;s role in enforcing the court <a class="zem_slink" title="Court order" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Court_order">order</a> does not make it a &#8220;coup&#8221; any more than federal troops&#8217; role in enforcing the court-ordered integration of the Little Rock public schools in 1957 constituted a military occupation or takeover.&#8221;</p>
<p>What is scary is that Obama stated that the &#8220;U.S. will stand on the side of democracy&#8221; so to him, Zelaya represented democracy! In taking this stance, President Obama has now found himself agreeing with Hugo Chavez, <a class="zem_slink" title="Fidel Castro" rel="imdb" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004242/">Fidel Castro</a> and every other leftist dictator and leader in Latin America. I applaud Republican Rep. <a class="zem_slink" title="Ileana Ros-Lehtinen" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ileana_Ros-Lehtinen">Ileana Ros-Lehtinen</a> for taking issue with the Obama administration on it&#8217;s reaction to Honduras.</p>
<p>In a letter to Obama, Ros-Lehtinen stated &#8220;the U.S. stance from the onset appears to have been focused on supporting one individual, President <a class="zem_slink" title="Manuel Zelaya" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manuel_Zelaya">Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales</a>, irrespective of the Honduran constitution, rule of law, and democratic institutions. &#8230; [T]here has been no apparent attempt by the U.S to discern the truth about the status of democratic and constitutional order in this Central American country, before making summary conclusions and issuing condemnations based on incomplete information.&#8221; She ended the letter by saying she hoped the Obama administration &#8220;will not have the U.S. response hinge on unconfirmed reports and accusations by sources with a vested interest in ensuring a particular outcome that may, or may not be in the interest of the United States.&#8221;</p>
<p>The Senate will soon start confirmation hearings for Judge Sonia Sotomayor, who President Obama has nominated for the Supreme Court of the United States. She has stated, &#8220;I would hope that a wise Latina woman, with the richness of her experiences, would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn&#8217;t lived that life.&#8221; I argue that she does not see all people equally. She first sees ethnicity, then gender, and then the law, which she wants to create. In 2001, she said this, &#8220;Personal experiences affect the facts that judges choose to see. My hope is that I will take the good from my experiences and extrapolate them further into areas with which I am unfamiliar. I simply do not know exactly what that difference will be in my judging. But I accept there will be some based on my gender and my Latina heritage.&#8221; Anyone who is a judge and makes it clear that they will be bringing their bias to the bench based on their heritage, gender and experiences, should not be anywhere near the Supreme Court.</p>
<p>Our country is changing. It is changing because we are being led by a man who lacks the knowledge of what freedom and democracy is, to be President of the United States of America. If the United States doesn&#8217;t stand up to the government of Iran and doesn&#8217;t give the people of Iran the message that we stand solidly with them in their struggle for freedom; if our leader doesn&#8217;t see that in Honduras, the wheels of democracy were actually working in the ousting of Zelaya; if our President and Congress force government controlled health care and continue to take over industry after industry; if our government sees fit to impose taxes and create another federal bureaucracy to make the country &#8220;green&#8221;, and if a judge gets confirmed to the Supreme Court who clearly doesn&#8217;t see all people equally and sees her role as one to create law and not interpret it justly, where is our freedom headed?</p>
<p>The American people need to understand that if actions are not taken to stop the current trend of government interference in our lives and it&#8217;s inability to stand up for the struggles of freedom in the world, we may be longing for the days of celebrating our hard fought-for Independence because we will be mourning our complacent birth of Dependence. Dependence on a government that thrives on power. The power to tell you what is right for you. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, &#8221; That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves.&#8221;</p>

<p>The current foreign policy stance held by the Obama administration, being heralded on the left as the way back into the good graces of other countries (including ones that want to destroy us), has been like watching a circus. <a class="zem_slink" title="Barack Obama" rel="homepage" href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/">President Obama</a> is the ringleader with his blame America speeches and our State Department, headed by <a class="zem_slink" title="Hillary Rodham Clinton" rel="homepage" href="http://www.state.gov/secretary/index.htm">Hillary Clinton</a> is like the car full of clowns. With every foreign affairs mishap, it&#8217;s like another clown exiting the car. The question is how many clowns are in there?</p>
<p>First, Hillary Clinton went to Russia and met with <a class="zem_slink" title="Sergey Lavrov" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergey_Lavrov">Sergey Lavrov</a>, the Russian Foreign Minister. She gave him a plastic &#8220;red button&#8221; with Russian print on it that was supposed to say &#8220;reset&#8221; to represent the &#8220;reset&#8221; of relations between our two countries. Unfortunately, the Russian was wrong and the button actually said &#8220;overcharge.&#8221; Apparently, they gave him the button that was meant for the American people.</p>
<p>Then Secretary Clinton went to <a class="zem_slink" title="Mexico" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.05,-99.3666666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=19.05,-99.3666666667%20%28Mexico%29&amp;t=h">Mexico</a> where she continued to blame the U.S., citing the statistic that &#8220;90 percent of the weapons used to commit crimes in Mexico come from the <a class="zem_slink" title="United States" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667%20%28United%20States%29&amp;t=h">United States</a>.&#8221; In fact, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S. An ATF spokeswoman stated the statistic as being, &#8220;over 90 percent of the <em>traced</em> firearms originate from the U.S.&#8221;</p>
<p>While in Mexico, Secretary Clinton stopped at the Basilica of <a class="zem_slink" title="Our Lady of Guadalupe" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.4844444444,-99.1172222222&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=19.4844444444,-99.1172222222%20%28Our%20Lady%20of%20Guadalupe%29&amp;t=h">Our Lady of Guadalupe</a> to leave a bouquet of white flowers, “on behalf of the American people.&#8221; She then asked, &#8220;Who painted it?&#8221; to which the Monsignor responded “God!” She apparently did not do her homework. The image of Our Lady of Guadalupe was miraculously imprinted by Mary on the cloak of St. Juan Diego in 1531. Upon leaving the basilica, Mrs. Clinton told some of the Mexicans gathered outside to greet her, “You have a marvelous virgin!” Don&#8217;t forget, this is &#8220;on behalf of the American people.&#8221;</p>
<p>Secretary Clinton then went to China to beg and plead with them to keep buying U.S. debt. This was extremely important because the <a class="zem_slink" title="George W. Bush" rel="imdb" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0124133/">President</a> and Congress are finding all kinds of ways to spend money that our country doesn&#8217;t have and someone has to pay for it. Why not the Chinese and then eventually the next generation of Americans?</p>
<p>The U.S. then sent four detainees from <a class="zem_slink" title="Guantánamo Bay" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=19.9,-75.15&amp;spn=1.0,1.0&amp;q=19.9,-75.15%20%28Guant%C3%A1namo%20Bay%29&amp;t=h">Guantanamo Bay</a> to the lovely island of Bermuda. Bermuda has control over it&#8217;s own affairs which include immigration, but not foreign policy, defense or security, because they are still a British territory. Decisions on these matters would be made in London. Except if you are President Obama, the ringleader, then you let your operatives and State Department blindside one of our most reliable and important allies.</div>
<p>Meanwhile, North Korea continues to launch missile tests and threaten the U.S. with attacks if anything is done to prevent them or their pursuit of nuclear weapons. Our response, they are a &#8220;grave threat&#8221; and we are &#8220;looking into it.&#8221; Now, because the Bush Administration took North Korea off the terror list, we are trying to decide if we should put them back on. It is like the green, red and yellow cards my kindergartner gets at school. If they are having a good day, they keep the green card next to their name. When they start misbehaving, they get the yellow card for a warning, and when the teacher has had it, the red card goes up along with a note home. Right now, North Korea has a yellow card and we are trying to decide if we want to switch them to red and send a note to the mother of all foreign affairs, the dysfunctional United Nations.</p>
<p>We also had members of the <a class="zem_slink" title="Congressional Black Caucus" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_Black_Caucus">Congressional Black Caucus</a> visit Cuba. &#8220;Former President <a class="zem_slink" title="Fidel Castro" rel="imdb" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004242/">Fidel Castro</a> is very engaging, very energetic,&#8221; said CBC Chairwoman Barbara Lee, a California Democrat. &#8220;Our conclusion is, given the new direction in our foreign policy, that it&#8217;s time to look at a new direction in our policy toward Cuba.&#8221; Lee and others gave much praise to Castro, saying that he was warm and receptive to them. Lee described her time with Castro as, “quite a moment to behold.&#8221; Representative Bobby Rush, an Illinois Democrat said, “It was almost like listening to an old friend&#8221;, and &#8220;In my household I told Castro he is known as the ultimate survivor.&#8221; I guess that would be true if your old friend is a communist tyrant who is a human rights abuser, suppresses free speech, fair elections and imprisons political dissenters.</p>
<p>Now we have our State Department telling its embassies and consulates around the world that “they may invite representatives from the government of Iran” to their Independence Day celebrations which are gatherings that usually have hot dogs, red-white-and-blue decorations, fireworks and is a general celebration of America, it&#8217;s roots and values. Nothing like a friendly barbecue to show that the communication lines are open with a government that wants to wipe Israel off the face of the earth and whose leader despises America.</p>
<p>This was announced right before Secretary Clinton went to El Salvador where she is trying to improve relations in Latin America because they are concerned about the influence that Iran has been gaining there. Of course while there, as is the pattern with the Democrats (they did it for eight years, so I guess habits are hard to break) Clinton blamed the Bush administration and their policy in Latin America for the Iranian influence.</p>
<p>Even with the ongoing violence taking place in Iran today, with protesters marching in the streets, risking their lives in opposition to the current government and their election controversy, State Department spokesman, Ian Kelly said, &#8220;There&#8217;s no thought to rescinding the invitations to Iranian diplomats. We have made a strategic decision to engage on a number of fronts with Iran. And &#8212; and we tried many years of isolation, and we&#8217;re pursuing a different path now.&#8221;</p>
<p>So to recap our foreign policy: we gave a plastic &#8220;red button&#8221; to Russia that didn&#8217;t translate correctly; we went to Mexico and falsely accused the U.S. of supplying bad guys with guns; told the people in Mexico City that they have a &#8220;marvelous Virgin&#8221;; begged China to buy up more of our debt because we can&#8217;t stop spending like drunken sailors; we sent Gitmo detainees off to live in a paradise governed by our ally without notifying them; we have scolded North Korea; engaged Fidel Castro, the communist dictator, and praised him; and now we are going to invite representatives from Iran to come and celebrate America&#8217;s birthday with hot dogs, which depending on what kind you buy, they can&#8217;t even eat because Muslims don&#8217;t eat pork. With three and a half years left to this administration and it&#8217;s foreign policy, I think the clown car is going to be really big.</p>

<p>Thomas Jefferson must be rolling over in his grave right now in agony to see the country that he believed in and stood so strongly for, be mocked by <a class="zem_slink" title="American Broadcasting Company" rel="homepage" href="http://abc.go.com/">ABC</a> News running an infomercial for the President and his <a class="zem_slink" title="Health care" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care">health care</a> plan out of the <a class="zem_slink" title="Presidency of George W. Bush" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presidency_of_George_W._Bush">White House</a>. This is surely not what the Founding Fathers intended when they wrote the Bill of Rights and ensured the freedom of the press.</p>
<p>ABC is set to air all their news shows from the White House for one day and they will be dedicated to promoting Obama&#8217;s health care plan. In order to make sure that you are convinced and sold on it, a prime time special called &#8220;Questions for the President: Prescription for America&#8221; will also be aired that evening. In a town-hall-style setting, <a class="zem_slink" title="Barack Obama" rel="homepage" href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/">President Obama</a> will answer questions presented by the audience members who will be selected by ABC News. ABC has refused a request by the RNC to have a representative of the party&#8217;s plan on during the Obamathon and has also refused to let paid ads air during the program showing any opposing viewpoint.</p>
<p>Many are accusing ABC News and anchor <a class="zem_slink" title="Charles Gibson" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Gibson">Charles Gibson</a>, and rightly so, of selling Obama&#8217;s socialized health care plan &#8220;without any opportunity for opposing views.&#8221; This is on the heels of a new study that shows ABC News coverage of President Obama&#8217;s health care plan is favorable by a ratio of 3 to 1.</p>
<p>At what point did the press turn from the true whistle-blowers and finders of truth, of reporters on fact and not propaganda to the mindless, spineless drones they are now. There is a reason that the big three networks ABC, NBC and <a class="zem_slink" title="CBS" rel="homepage" href="http://www.cbs.com/">CBS</a> viewership continues to fall as a news source. In the <a class="zem_slink" title="News broadcasting" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_broadcasting">cable news</a> arena, <a class="zem_slink" title="Fox News Channel" rel="homepage" href="http://www.foxnews.com">FOX</a> consistently beats out the other news <a class="zem_slink" title="Television station" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Television_station">channels</a> in prime-time. Now apparently this hurts President Obama&#8217;s feelings as he stated in an interview with CNBC, &#8221; First of all, I&#8217;ve got one television station entirely devoted to attacking my administration.&#8221;</p>
<p>When CNBC&#8217;s John Harwood quickly identified the station as <a class="zem_slink" title="Fox News Channel" rel="homepage" href="http://www.foxnews.com/">FOX News</a>, the President responded,&#8221;Well, that&#8217;s a pretty big megaphone, and you&#8217;d be hard-pressed, if you watched the entire day, to find a positive story about me on that front.&#8221; He obviously doesn&#8217;t watch FOX all day because they have opposing viewpoints on constantly and many of them are very positive of the President and his agenda.</p>
<p>Obama felt comfortable in continuing with this, &#8220;We welcome people who are asking us some, you know, tough questions, and I think that I&#8217;ve been probably as accessible as any president in the first six months–press conferences, taking questions from reporters, being held accountable, being transparent about what it is that we&#8217;re trying to do. I think that, actually, the reason that people have been generally positive about what we&#8217;ve tried to do is they feel as if I&#8217;m available and willing to answer questions, and we haven&#8217;t been trying to hide them all.&#8221;</p>
<p>Accessible? Accountable? Transparent? This President and administration have been anything but. His so-called press conferences were nothing but teleprompter sightings with questions from reporters who were preselected. That&#8217;s what I call accessibility. The only person that Obama holds accountable for anything is <a class="zem_slink" title="George W. Bush" rel="imdb" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0124133/">Bush</a>. He whines and blames the Bush administration every chance he gets. The only transparency that Obama and his administration have displayed so far is letting the public know what restaurant and Broadway show he and his wife went to on date night.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s not forget his comment at the White House Correspondents dinner, &#8220;Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me, apologies to the Fox table.&#8221; Joke or not, he knows who in the media serve as his &#8220;megaphone.&#8221;</p>
<p>We are supposed to feel confident in a fair analysis of Obama&#8217;s health care plan because ABC claims that they, and they alone will pick the people to take part in the town-hall-style question and answer session. They will ensure that the President will have to answer tough questions. This is the equivalent of a kid in school getting a copy of the math exam the night before it is given. There will be no tough questions for Obama and I am confident that ABC will make sure of that.</p>

<p>I think at some point during the primary season, Obama held a closed door meeting with those in the <a class="zem_slink" title="Mass media" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_media">mainstream media</a> and said this, &#8220;<em>Look deep into my eyes. You are starting to feel very sleepy. I will count to ten and when I reach ten, you will come out of your deep sleep and believe the following until I clap my hands: <a class="zem_slink" title="Barack Obama" rel="homepage" href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/">Barack Obama</a> is great, He will save this country, he will lower the <a class="zem_slink" title="Sea level" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level">sea levels</a>, all his ideas are great, you will champion his policies even if they are at the demise of the <a class="zem_slink" title="United States" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667%20%28United%20States%29&amp;t=h">United States of America</a>, you will <a class="zem_slink" title="Barack Obama presidential campaign, 2008" rel="homepage" href="http://www.barackobama.com/">campaign</a>, uh, I mean write glowing articles about him and how smart he is, you will not question anything he does or do any real reporting. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, wait, also, you must know that he is above everyone else and is <a class="zem_slink" title="God" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/God">God</a>-like, ten. Thank you all for coming to this press conference and I hope that I answered all of your questions</em>.&#8221;</p>
<p>Apparently, Obama has not clapped his hands yet. This is the only explanation for <a class="zem_slink" title="Evan Thomas" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evan_Thomas">Evan Thomas</a>, editor of <a class="zem_slink" title="Newsweek" rel="homepage" href="http://www.newsweek.com/">Newsweek</a> saying the following, &#8220;Well, we were the good guys in 1984, it felt that way. It hasn&#8217;t felt that way in recent years. So Obama&#8217;s had, really, a different task. We&#8217;re seen too often as the bad guys. And he, he has a very different job from &#8230; Reagan was all about America, and you talked about it. Obama is &#8211; we are above that now. We&#8217;re not just parochial, we&#8217;re not just chauvinistic, we&#8217;re not just provincial. We stand for something, I mean in a way Obama&#8217;s standing above the country, above above the world, he&#8217;s sort of God.&#8221;</p>
<p>Mr. Thomas went on &#8220;He&#8217;s going to bring all different sides together&#8230;Obama is trying to sort of tamper everything down. He doesn&#8217;t even use the word terror. He uses extremism. He&#8217;s all about let us reason together&#8230;He&#8217;s the teacher. He is going to say, ‘now, children, stop fighting and quarreling with each other.’ And he has a kind of a moral authority that he – he can – he can do that.&#8221;</p>
<p>And to reinforce this idea even more, he said this, &#8220;We&#8217;re understanding what Obama is. He is the great teacher. He is this guy that stands above everybody. There&#8217;s some condescension in it. But, he stands above everybody and says, &#8216;Now, listen. You people have to stop blaming each other unreasonably. You have to get along here and I am going to show you the way.&#8217; It is a pretty brave role in many ways. &#8221;</p>
<p>Those in the mainstream media with the &#8220;thrills running up their leg&#8221; over Obama and starry-eyed reporting of him, they can&#8217;t really believe what they are saying, can they? Do they realize how they look and sound to the American people with their reporting on this Administration, it&#8217;s policies and the current party controlling Congress? I am convinced that at some point, they were hypnotized and will continue to be until their fearless leader claps his hands and they snap out of it. This is has to be the explanation for anyone believing that Obama is God-like, that it is okay for him to have condescension and think he is above everyone, and that as President of the United States, he is above being about America.</p>
<p>Wait a minute, there are many not in the media who think the same way. He must have somehow used <a class="zem_slink" title="Hypnosis" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnosis">hypnosis</a> on the citizens of the United States and maybe the only thing to save you from having your mind taken over by the smoothness and ill-truths of Barack Obama was and is the shield of knowing the Constitution of the United States, the history of this nation, the true nature of the enemies we face and the promise of freedom and greatness that this country stands for. Yes, that must be it.</p>

<p>“Rule one: Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things.” These are the words of <a class="zem_slink" title="Barack Obama" rel="homepage" href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/">Barack Obama</a>&#8217;s Chief of Staff, <a class="zem_slink" title="Rahm Emanuel" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rahm_Emanuel">Rahm Emanuel</a>. It appears that the President, his administration and a willing <a class="zem_slink" title="Democratic Party (United States)" rel="homepage" href="http://www.democrats.org">Democratic</a> Congress are using Emanuel&#8217;s rule to push through their agenda, without questions, at the expense of the American people.</p>
<p>After Barack Obama became President, he quickly worked to pass his stimulus bill, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. He claimed that &#8220;A failure to act, and act now, will turn crisis into a catastrophe and guarantee a longer recession, a less robust recovery, and a more uncertain future,&#8221; He pushed for such fast action that neither he nor Congress had time to actually read the bill, or maybe they didn&#8217;t care to, that spent $787 billion dollars. The White House estimates that the government will create a record $1.8 trillion budget deficit this year which is more than four times last year&#8217;s all-time high.</p>
<p>Since the passage of the stimulus bill, our economy has continued to decline and our unemployment rate is now at 9.4 percent, a 25 year high. Under Obama&#8217;s plan, the unemployment rate was supposed to peak at 8 percent. The answer President Obama has come up with now is to spend more money even faster, though he admitted in an interview, &#8220;Well, we are out of money now. We are operating in deep deficits, not caused by any decisions we&#8217;ve made on <a class="zem_slink" title="Health care" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care">health care</a> so far.&#8221;</p>
<p>Then came the announcement that <a class="zem_slink" title="Supreme Court of the United States" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.8907083333,-77.0043444444&amp;spn=1.0,1.0&amp;q=38.8907083333,-77.0043444444%20%28Supreme%20Court%20of%20the%20United%20States%29&amp;t=h">Supreme Court</a> Justice <a class="zem_slink" title="David Souter" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Souter">David Souter</a> will retire in October. Once again, it must be a crisis because President Obama has set a deadline for a vote on nominee Sonia Sotamayor by the start of the Senate&#8217;s five-week recess in August, and Senator Leahy has obeyed. Leahy announced the confirmation hearings will begin on July 13.</p>
<p>Apparently Senator Leahy made the announcement of the confirmation hearings before letting the <a class="zem_slink" title="Republican Party (United States)" rel="homepage" href="http://www.gop.com">Republicans</a> on the <a class="zem_slink" title="United States Senate Committee on the Judiciary" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Senate_Committee_on_the_Judiciary">Senate Judiciary Committee</a> know the date had been set. The Republicans had urged for the hearings to be set for September since there are ten times as many cases to review than Justice <a class="zem_slink" title="John G. Roberts" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_G._Roberts">Roberts</a> had. Hearings in September would allow plenty of time for Sotomayor to prepare to take over in early October.</p>
<p>Senator <a class="zem_slink" title="Jeff Sessions" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Sessions">Jeff Sessions</a> has now asked Sotomayor to provide more detail on her questionnaire because some of her answers were incomplete. &#8220;The least we can expect is complete and full answers,&#8221; commented Senator Sessions and six other Republican members of the Senate Judiciary Committee agreed and joined Sessions in his written request to Sotomayor. The Democrats are following the rule, hold the hearings quickly, while answers are incomplete and no one has time to comb through her records because it&#8217;s a crisis and, &#8220;they are opportunities to do big things.&#8221;</p>
<p>So now to health care. President Obama is now making the rounds and campaigning (the thing he does best) on fast passage of a health care bill. He said, &#8220;We can&#8217;t afford to put this off,&#8221; in a meeting with Senate Democrats. &#8220;This window between now and the August recess I think is going to be the make-or-break period. This is the time where we&#8217;ve got to get this running.&#8221;</p>
<p>Once again, we find ourselves with our President lecturing us on the need for fast action. Are we to move so fast again that there will be no time to actually read the bill? What happened to the promised 5 days of bills being out on the internet for the public to browse before being signed? Obama has said that rising health care costs are unsustainable for families, businesses and governments and wants immediate congressional action on a health care bill so it can be passed by the end of the year.</p>
<p>With the current administration, we can expect everything to be a crisis. Immediate action to a crisis with this administration and the Democrats in Congress, enables the them to pass legislation or Supreme Court nominees, without any real debate or questions. This just shows that in the arena of ideas and solutions, the Obama administration and the Democrats have none.</p>
<p>So I leave you with Rahm Emanuel&#8217;s words again, “Rule one: Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things.” When will the American people wake up and pull the blanket of wool, that Obama and the Democrats have so intricately weaved, off of their eyes?</p>

<p>Upon the government takeover of the 100 year old car company, our President, <a class="zem_slink" title="Barack Obama" rel="homepage" href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/">Barack Obama</a> said this, &#8220;I will not pretend the hard times are over. More jobs will be lost. More plants will close. More dealerships will shut their doors, and so will many parts suppliers. But I want you to know that what you&#8217;re doing is making a sacrifice for the next generation . . . so that your children and all of our children can grow up in an America that still makes things, that still builds cars, that still strives for a better future.&#8221;</p>
<p>We can&#8217;t forget what the President said while talking about possible <a class="zem_slink" title="Tax" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax">tax</a> increases in an interview with <a class="zem_slink" title="George Stephanopoulos" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Stephanopoulos">George Stephanopoulos</a> “Everybody’s going to have to give,” Obama said. “Everybody’s going to have to have some skin in the game.”</p>
<p>On the eve of making a speech about sacrifice to GM employees, how some will lose their jobs but they need to look at the big picture and help the next generation, President Obama and his lovely wife, <a class="zem_slink" title="Michelle Obama" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Obama">Michelle</a>, flew to New York city for a &#8220;date night.&#8221; They had a cozy dinner, took in a <a class="zem_slink" title="Broadway theatre" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=40.7558333333,-73.9863888889&amp;spn=0.01,0.01&amp;q=40.7558333333,-73.9863888889%20%28Broadway%20theatre%29&amp;t=h">Broadway</a> show and then jetted back to D.C. Not a cheap trip when you tally up everything that had to be flown there and shut down for them. I bet there are a lot of GM employees that would have liked to take their wives on a &#8220;date night&#8221; to New York at the taxpayers expense.</p>
<p>Only a true elitist would say you sacrifice your job and income, but don&#8217;t forget to pay taxes on any income you do earn to pay for the bailout we are giving the company that demolished your job and to pay for my extravagant and overindulgent &#8220;date night.&#8221;</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s not forget how Obama scolded corporate executives when he said: &#8220;You can&#8217;t get corporate jets. You can&#8217;t go take a trip to <a class="zem_slink" title="Las Vegas, Nevada" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=36.175,-115.136388889&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=36.175,-115.136388889%20%28Las%20Vegas%2C%20Nevada%29&amp;t=h">Las Vegas</a>, or go down to the <a class="zem_slink" title="Super Bowl" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl">Super Bowl</a> on the taxpayers&#8217; dime.&#8221;</p>
<p>Give me a break! Now the defense will start. Hey, <a class="zem_slink" title="George W. Bush" rel="imdb" href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0124133/">President Bush</a> took vacations and went on trips!! Yes, yes he did, but not all the while lecturing the taxpayers on how they need to have &#8220;skin in the game&#8221; and to &#8220;sacrifice&#8221; their job and income for the next generation. I, as I am sure most people, do not begrudge the President and First Lady for wanting a date night, but was there not a suitable place in <a class="zem_slink" title="Washington, D.C." rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.8951111111,-77.0366666667&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=38.8951111111,-77.0366666667%20%28Washington%2C%20D.C.%29&amp;t=h">Washington, D.C.</a> that night?</p>
<p>Then comes the argument that he promised his wife while campaigning that he would take her to a Broadway show. To that I say, could he not have said this, &#8220;No honey, you can&#8217;t go to that Broadway show. Times are hard and I need to set an example. But I want you to know that what you&#8217;re doing is making a sacrifice for the next generation . . . so that your children and all of our children can grow up in an America that still makes things, that still builds cars, that still strives for a better future. So they can be taxed and pay for a President&#8217;s extravagant date night.&#8221;</p>

<p>At a town-hall-style meeting in <a class="zem_slink" title="Rio Rancho, New Mexico" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.2861111111,-106.670555556&amp;spn=0.1,0.1&amp;q=35.2861111111,-106.670555556%20%28Rio%20Rancho%2C%20New%20Mexico%29&amp;t=h">Rio Rancho, New Mexico</a> <a class="zem_slink" title="Barack Obama" rel="homepage" href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/">President Obama</a> said,  “We can’t keep on just borrowing from <a class="zem_slink" title="China" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=35.0,105.0&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=35.0,105.0%20%28China%29&amp;t=h">China</a>. We have to pay interest on that <a class="zem_slink" title="Debt" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debt">debt</a>, and that means we are mortgaging our children’s future with more and more debt.” He called the current <a class="zem_slink" title="Deficit spending" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deficit_spending">deficit spending</a> “unsustainable” and said that interest rates for consumers will go up if we continue to borrow from other countries.</p>
<p>Please excuse me while I bang my head against the wall!!! Is this not what we have been saying since January 20, 2009? Some of us have been saying it since the fall when the first financial rescue package was signed. This is what the Tea Parties on April 15th were about. More and more people are getting fed up with the spending in <a class="zem_slink" title="Washington" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=47.5,-120.5&amp;spn=1.0,1.0&amp;q=47.5,-120.5%20%28Washington%29&amp;t=h">Washington</a> and this Congress and Administration have been so good at it. Even <a class="zem_slink" title="John McCain" rel="homepage" href="http://mccain.senate.gov/public/">John McCain</a>, who I do not always agree with, called the current spending practices in Washington &#8220;generational theft&#8221;.</p>
<p>It is being reported that the Obama administration has revised it&#8217;s own estimates for the <a class="zem_slink" title="Deficit" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deficit">deficit</a> this year to a record $1.84 trillion, which is up 5 percent from their February numbers and the 2010 deficit is being estimated at $1.26 trillion, up 7.4 percent from February.</p>
<p>Why is President Obama agreeing with us now? I guarantee it is not because he wants to stop spending. This is Obama paving the way for a tax increase and it will not be just for the &#8220;rich&#8221;. As he said during his <a class="zem_slink" title="John McCain presidential campaign, 2008" rel="homepage" href="http://www.johnmccain.com/">campaign</a> when gas prices were skyrocketing, &#8220;High gas prices are just fine by me, I just wish we could have raised them more slowly.&#8221; Will this be his model for tax increases?</p>
<p>Those of us who did not vote for him knew this was coming. So as the saying goes &#8220;Buyer beware&#8221;. Or in this case, &#8220;Obama-buyer beware&#8221;.<a title="Obama Rio Rancho Town Hall Pic by nmfbihop, on Flickr" href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/28016916@N08/3531348855/"></a></p>

<p>I find it hard to believe that the same government body that was unable to properly run their own restaurants, cafeterias and <a class="zem_slink" title="Coffeehouse" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffeehouse">coffee shops</a> is now suggesting they take over <a class="zem_slink" title="Health care" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_care">health care</a> for all Americans. In 2008, Congress voted to privatize the running of their dining areas after four decades of taxpayer bailouts. This is proof of how efficient the government is.</p>
<p>Obama&#8217;s first pick for <a class="zem_slink" title="United States Secretary of Health and Human Services" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Secretary_of_Health_and_Human_Services">HHS Secretary</a>, <a class="zem_slink" title="Tom Daschle" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Daschle">Tom Daschle</a>, wrote a book about health care and it is so telling of how those on the left want to control it. He states in the book that a Federal Health Board should be created to make decisions on proper treatment for the masses.</p>
<p>I don&#8217;t know about you, but the last group of people that I would want to be in charge of making health care decisions for me or my family would be some bureaucratic arm of the government. Those decisions should be made by the doctor and the patient.</p>
<p>Recently a doctor wanted to start a program where he would charge an individual $70 a month for any number of visits they needed. Sounds like a great plan right? Not to the government or the insurance lobby. That doctor is not allowed to offer such a plan.</p>
<p><a class="zem_slink" title="Tort reform" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tort_reform">Tort reform</a> also needs to be addressed to solve the health care problem. If a doctor has to pay an astronomical amount in <a class="zem_slink" title="Medical malpractice" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medical_malpractice">malpractice</a> insurance, what happens to his operating costs? It goes up and that gets passed along to us. As long as we have an environment where people can sue a doctor for absolutely anything, we will have a problem with health care. Former <a class="zem_slink" title="Vice President of the United States" rel="homepage" href="http://www.whitehouse.gov/vicepresident/">Vice Presidential candidate</a>, <a class="zem_slink" title="John Edwards" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Edwards">John Edwards</a>, made his millions from these types of <a class="zem_slink" title="Frivolous litigation" rel="wikipedia" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frivolous_litigation">frivolous lawsuits</a>.</p>
<p>There are many reasons why we have health care problems in the <a class="zem_slink" title="United States" rel="geolocation" href="http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667&amp;spn=10.0,10.0&amp;q=38.8833333333,-77.0166666667%20%28United%20States%29&amp;t=h">United States</a> and there are many ways in which we can solve them. I promise you though, government take-over of it, is not the answer.</p>
