And the indoctrination continues. Two news stories hit me in the gut today. The first is alarm over a video that literally gave me chills. So much of the video is uplifting, inspiring and very motivational. The underlying tones are what frighten me. Hollywood talking heads pledge over and over to do nice things for their neighbors and to smile more and then…to support Barack Obama. It has this whole blurb on how lonely it is to be president and a message to Obama that he’s not alone. Poor guy. Ok, so fine. Hollywood loves Obama. Tell me something I don’t know. The part that’s creepy is that this “I Pledge” video is being shown to school children. How does this propaganda find its way into our classrooms?

Public education has scared me for years. I have friends who are teachers who have been hounded relentlessly to join the NEA. One such teacher left a school district because of the pressure from his colleagues to join the teachers’ union. He’s in the minority. I think most teachers give in because they want someone to negotiate contracts for them and they don’t want to eat alone in the break room.

Obama will give an unprecedented address to schoolchildren on Tuesday, September 8. It’s a welcome back to school speech, according to the White House. I’m sure he’ll be upbeat and encouraging. He’ll tout the benefits of education and encourage them to work hard. Sure our kids will probably get a neck ache from watching their president turn quickly from teleprompter to teleprompter but that’s ok. The POTUS should speak to even the youngest citizens, right? No big deal…except it is. Have you seen the suggested lesson plans and talking points for your child’s teacher? It includes discussion questions like these:
What is the President trying to tell me?
What is the President asking me to do?
What do you think the President wants us to do?
Are we able to do what President Obama is asking of us?

I can’t help it. I’m a huge history buff and I immediately think of Hitler’s infamous and callous plan for the world’s youth:
“When an opponent declares,
‘I will not come over to your side.’
I calmly say, ‘Your child belongs to us already…
What are you? You will pass on.
Your descendants, however,
now stand in the new camp.
In a short time they will know nothing
else but this new community.’”

Keep your kids home from school next Tuesday, ladies. Give them a lesson on U.S. History and our Constitution. They’re sure as heck not going to get that in their classes. I hate that the Left owns our schools. It breaks my heart. Our laziness and our abhorrence for conflict gave them this power over the next generation. It’s time to take a stand against further socialist indoctrination. Don’t let Obama’s plans for your children come to fruition.

I love the UK. I’ve been there twice. I can’t get over the history, the beauty, the little red mailboxes. I mean, it’s great. London is one of my favorite cities in the world, in fact. I just have no intention of ever being there when I’m feeling feeble.

Apparently, in what the liberals would have you believe is the Promised Land of Health Care, Britain doesn’t have enough maternity beds to go around. In 2008, 4,000 women gave birth to their babies in really hygienic, safe locations like elevators, toilets and random hallways. Health officials readily admit part of the problem is that their hospitals are full. Maternity units turned away 553 moms-to-be last year because they simply couldn’t handle anymore. What blows my mind, is that Prime Minister Gordon Brown tripled spending on NHS. Throwing money at a problem isn’t fixing the situation? I’m sure American liberals are just at a loss for words over this development. (Or they’ll continue to ignore the facts as is their habit).

Mark Wattson, a 35-year-old Brit had his appendix taken out but weeks later had to be raced back to the hospital. He was in agonizing pain and was told (by the same team of surgeons who performed his appendectomy) that in fact, his appendix was still inside him and had ruptured. Obviously, Mr. Wattson was surprised to hear his appendix was still present in his body and he wondered what organ had been removed the previous month?

“I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I told these people I had my appendix out just four weeks earlier but there it was on the scanner screen for all to see. ‘I thought, “What the hell did they slice me open for in the first place?”
My question exactly, Mr. Wattson. Now this poor man has endured three hospital visits for the same problem (after the second surgery, his incision became infected and he had to go back) and he lost his job because his employers didn’t believe his twice-used excuse that his appendix had to be removed. Normally, that just happens once, you see.

Paul Gearing, deputy general manager for general surgery at Great Western Hospital NHS Trust, apologized to Mr. Wattson, “We would like to apologize if Mr Wattson felt dissatisfied with the care he received at Great Western Hospital.” If he felt dissatisfied?

The stories just keep bubbling to the surface. The Community Organizer in Chief and his cronies in Congress desperately wanted to pass their version of health care reform before the August recess to lessen the time for accounts like Mr.Wattson’s to surface. Their idea is to ram legislation through and hope that We The People continue to hit the snooze button and simply not notice what they’re up to while “representing” our interests.

England is a lovely place to visit. I highly recommend it but whatever you do, don’t get sick while you’re there and don’t let socialists run health care at home.

And the hypocrisy of the Left continues. The feminists do not defend Sarah Palin. She’s not even in office anymore and the attacks continue. Sarah is a strong, independent-minded, successful woman and yet the feminists remain mostly silent rather than come to her aid while liberals spread vicious lies about her. The ACLU ignores the White House when it asks Americans to snitch on each other. Yet, the same organization has no problem suing the White House to release CIA photographs that will surely endanger our troops and undermine our war on terror.

Every year when Bush went to his ranch for the month of August, the White House press pool threw their hands up and cried out against the horrors of a president going home for a bit. Now, Obama wastes our money on ‘date nights’ and spends oodles of cash on a fancy vacation home in Martha’s Vineyard and the mainstream media swoons over his golf game. I think I’m getting used to this hypocrisy, however. Today I barely batted an eye when reading the following:

“In Obama’s first two years in office, the Environmental Protection Agency expects to begin the final phase of cleanup at fewer Superfund sites than in any administration since 1991, according to budget documents and agency records. The EPA estimates it will finish construction to remove the last traces of pollution at 20 sites in 2009 and 22 sites in 2010. During the eight years of the Bush administration, the agency finished construction at 38 sites on average a year.”

Now, even 38 sites a year wasn’t good enough for the Left when a Republican was in office. Bush was hounded continuously for not doing his part to save our good earth.

In 2005 Michigan Democratic Congressman John Dingell said, “The president should explain to the American people why he is content to leave the public health and environment at risk while toxic sites lay untreated in our communities for years.”

I’m certain John Dingell is holed up in his office right now composing a letter of outrage about President Obama’s environmental deficiencies.

The President likes to win. He doesn’t care how he does it. He doesn’t mind employing Chicago-style tactics to twist arms and cut deals. He certainly doesn’t give a thought to asking American citizens to rat each other out. He want s to know who is causing trouble for his beloved Health Care (Insurance) Reform mission. In an act that seems outrageous even for our Socialist in Chief, he’s now asking everyone to report “fishy” health care information to The White House. Check out this blog to see it for yourself.

Senator (R-TX) John Cornyn wrote Obama a letter about this Big Brother move. He asks, “What action do you intend to take against citizens who have been reported for engaging in ‘fishy’ speech?” Good question, Senator. Cornyn also asks what will happen to the names, identities and email addresses gathered by The White House. I’d like to know that, too.

If citizens chose to read H.R. 3200 for themselves (more than we can say for our Congress members) or decide it’s not right for them or our country, the Prez is unhappy. He wants you to stay asleep, to keep listening to the hypnotic music and ignore the man behind the green curtain. He doesn’t want you to know what’s really planned for our nation. Progressives have anticipated government takeover of health care for decades. Patriots are spoiling their fun.

Unfortunately for the Lefties, Americans aren’t falling into line formation as planned. Americans are asking questions, getting feisty and causing trouble for their Socialist agenda. Every time I see another video from one of our representatives’ townhall meetings, I grin ear to ear. A message to The White House and the rest of you Progressives: we’re on to you and we’re not about to stop fighting now. You’re the ones who are fishy.

Don’t forget to attend a Recess Rally near you, smart girls! Let’s show them “orchestration” grassroots style.

By Lisa Farrar Wellman
A lot of our focus lately has been on those precious Blue Dog Democrats who hold our country’s future in their hands. It is assumed no Republicans will vote for the current versions of health care reform stinking up the halls of Congress.

However, one Republican who is under as much pressure as those Blue Dogs is Representative Anh “Joseph” Cao from Louisiana. His district is resoundingly Democrat-leaning and he doesn’t always vote the party line. He blew everyone away when he beat Democrat (and alleged criminal) William Jefferson whose criminal activities were finally enough to convince voters that maybe he shouldn’t be rewarded with another trip back to D.C.

Cao does not refer to himself as a conservative but he did vote against the stimulus bill, cap and trade and The Chosen One’s budget. And get this, Cao is reading H.R. 3200 for the third time. Most Americans are represented by people like Rep. Conyers who blatantly said he won’t be reading the 1,000 page bill. Cao is Catholic (and he’s serious about it) and he’s stated that he won’t vote for a bill that provides more federal funding for abortion. He is also concerned about health care reform that will eliminate private insurance.

Born in Vietnam, Cao and two of his siblings fled Saigon on one of the last flights out. He was raised by an uncle because the rest of his immediate family did not escape Vietnam. He has a physics degree, a master’s in philosophy and oh, yeah, he’s also a lawyer.

From his website: Joseph Cao lost both his home and law office to Katrina. With his wife and two daughters, he moved temporarily to Westwego and began rebuilding. Like so many others, Joseph battled insurance companies and government bureaucracy to restore his home and business.

This guy is obviously a determined hard worker and a representative who takes his position very seriously.

Now here’s the kicker: Cao represents a very left-leaning district in New Orleans. They haven’t sent a Republican to Congress since 1890. He is one of seven Republicans specifically targeted by Democrats and Obama. They’re not going to let him forget that he’s lucky to be there. They’re letting him know he can be ousted in the next election if he doesn’t side with them.

I think Cao is well aware of their scare tactics and threats. If the North Vietnamese didn’t stop him and Katrina failed to break his spirit, do these liberals think he’s really motivated by the same things they are—power, money and limelight? I think they underestimate Joseph Cao.

“I know that voting against the health care bill will probably be the death of my political career,” Cao said, “but I have to live with myself, and I always reflect on the phrase of the New Testament, ‘How does it profit a man’s life to gain the world but to lose his soul?’”

Take a moment to pray for Congressman Cao and drop him a line to say thank you for standing in the gap for the unborn and for the entire country. He might be right. This could be the end of his political career but what a way to go out—fighting for fellow Americans.

Behind closed doors Democratic leadership is strong arming Blue Dog Dems. I pray they hold fast to their principles but with someone like Nancy Pelosi (with eyeballs bugging) breathing down one’s neck, I know it’s tempting to give in, sign the confession and beg to be sent back to one’s cell. Oh, wait. I mean, they’ll choose to vote for Obamacare by their own free will because they know it’s the best thing for our country. They’ll return to their districts, heads held high to cheers from the populace.

Girl on the Right, Wendy Sullivan has a message for those Blue Dogs. Her experience as a Canadian is a look into a crystal ball if we don’t rein in the socialists and get back to our founders’ intentions for the country.

SGN: If you could talk to our Blue Dog Dems, what would you say?

WS: I would ask them what they would do if their child needed an urgent MRI or cancer treatment. Would they want the best care available, or would they want only what the lowest denominator in the United States could afford?

Smart Girls, Wendy makes a good point here. Contact your representatives and senators and ask them these questions. And, while you’ve got them (or one of their aides) on the phone, ask them if they’ve signed Let Freedom Ring’s Responsible Healthcare Reform Pledge. As of this writing, only 93 of our Congress members had vowed to read this monstrosity before voting on it. I can’t believe we’re even having this conversation but it’s a true testament to the state of our nation. Members of Congress need to be reminded to read bills before they vote on them.

Speaking of reading the current bill, H.R. 3200, (there are other bills floating around, too but this is the biggie), Wendy Sullivan, a Canadian mind you, wasn’t forced to sign a pledge but still managed to take an interest in our government process. She’s read the bill that will alter where 1/6 of our economy is spent.

SGN: What is the scariest thing you’ve read in H.R. 3200’s contents?

WS: To me the scariest part is also the most misunderstood. It’s the part where the bill puts so many impossible restrictions on private insurance that basically no one will be able to buy it. Many think that the bill outlaws private insurance (in Canada it is illegal to procure your own health care outside the government system, except in Quebec). Although that’s not the case, it still leaves many at the mercy of the government system.

I know you’re tired. If I have to call one more of these idiots and tell them the logical, economical and moral thing to do on healthcare, I think I’ll scream. However, we can’t give up. We can’t stop just inches from our goal. Real reform is a great idea. What the liberals are offering us is socialism on a hospital tray, not anything close to reform we can believe in. I’ll leave you with Wendy’s final message to all Americans.

WS: Please don’t do it. You think it’s a good idea now because someone is sweet talking you and telling you about how wonderful it is. Canada’s system that you are so desperate to emulate is NOT the answer, and I beg you to tell your representatives that you don’t want this bill.

By Lisa Farrar Wellman

Liberals love personal stories. On The Chosen One’s website readers can find sap story after sap story about health care woes. Visitors are encouraged to write in their own haunting tale to further the cause of Obamacare. While I don’t doubt that people need health care and certainly our system needs reform, the method of “reform” suggested by The Left sounds more like the makings of a personal rights nightmare than a dream come true.

A Smart Girl who knows a thing or two about health care nightmares, is Wendy Sullivan of Girl on the Right. Wendy is a Canadian who has not only lived with socialized medicine her whole life but who has also tasted the USA’s health system, too. Her personal story follows. Share it with a liberal you know today.

SGN: You live in Canada. Why do you care what we do with our health care system in the USA?

WS: I care for a couple of reasons. The main one is that I don’t want to see a great country fall into the bureaucratic turmoil Canada lives in. The second more selfish reason is that if America’s standard of care drops, Canadians like me will have no place to go for urgent/critical/experimental treatment.

SGN: Have you ever sought medical treatment “south of the border?”

WS: I spent four months on a Kansas farm last year. I was only supposed to be there a month, so I only had a month’s worth of travel insurance. During the third month of my visit, I got sick. It was just a stupid infection, but I had to go to a clinic for a test and a prescription. We called in the morning, and I was seen in the afternoon by appointment. The cost was $150. While I was sitting in the waiting room, the receptionist came over to tell me the doctor was running about 10 minutes behind schedule, and she apologized. I nearly laughed in her face. Ten minutes? Ha!

SGN: Will you share with us one or two personal experiences with Canada’s health care system?

WS: My mother was suffering from a bad cough and a terrible pain in the shoulder area. She was 46 years old at the time, and a heavy smoker. The doctors at the first hospital she was admitted to (Lachine General in Montreal which is now closed due to lack of money) diagnosed her as suffering from pre-menopausal depression. My father, ever the skeptic, called his insurance company to arrange for a CT scan (legal in Quebec). He walked in to my mother’s doctor a few days later with the results of the imaging and said, “You’d be depressed too if you had a tumor that big in your chest.” My mother died less than five months later, weighing just 43 pounds. It was the most horrific death I had ever seen, including in the horror movies I used to enjoy as a child. I was 14.

When I was 20, I was admitted to the Lakeshore General Hospital (Montreal) by ambulance. It was either the last day of October or the first of November. It was extremely cold where they left me on a cart by the ambulance bay, with the doors constantly opening to let in the wind and rain. They put me into that sexy, standard-issue butt gown and checked my clothes at the desk (I guess so they wouldn’t be stolen?). I was freezing, laying there without a blanket or pillow. Every time a nurse or orderly passed, I would beg for a blanket. I was so cold. They never brought me one. After about 5 hours, I noticed that the man on the next cot was dead. It was every man for himself, and I jumped up and stole his blanket. I grave robbed a man in a hospital emergency room just to keep from becoming the next casualty.

Think about that. How many people do you know wait five hours for medical care after arriving at a hospital via ambulance? In our messed up health care system, have you ever taken a blanket off a dead guy in order to stop shivering yourself? Yes, we have problems. Unfortunately H.R. 3200 neither addresses nor eliminates actual U.S. health care shortcomings. It does, however, land us squarely in Wendy Sullivan’s Canadian nightmare.

I will share the rest of my interview with Wendy Sullivan tomorrow.

Have you looked at H.R. 3200 yet? The bill description reads: “To provide affordable, quality health care for all Americans and reduce the growth in health care spending, and for other purposes.”

Obviously, it’s not going to provide affordable healthcare. We know the Congressional Budget Office released a report stating that this delightful, little bill will cost Americans $1 trillion over the next ten years. That doesn’t sound very affordable to me. We also know that the CBO estimates 37 million people will still not have health insurance by 2019. That sounds effective.

Quality health care is a relative term but take a look at our VA Hospitals for a glimpse into what government-run medicine looks like. Forget Canada. We have our own crystal ball right here in this country. Our heroes, the people who put their lives on the line for us every day, wait an average of 177 days for their claims to b addressed as compared to the industry average of 89.5 days. (According to Former Army Major Matt Burden, chairman of the Warrior Legacy Foundation, many vets wait 180 days just to see a doctor.) VA Hospitals are older than private hospitals and less than half of them could pass a random inspection.

The last two phrases of the descriptive header for H.R. 3200 just crack me up. We’re going to “reduce the growth in health care spending” by putting the government in charge of it? When has the government reduced the cost of anything in the history of our great nation? And what does “for other purposes” mean? I take it back. That part doesn’t make me laugh. It scares me stiff.

I have a pretty radical statement to make here. I don’t think the socialists running our country right now give a hoot about health care or its costs. I think this gigantic bill (1,018 pages at last count) is another finger in the fist closing around individuality and freedom in America. It’s part of a grander plan to move our country past the breaking point and right into the arms of socialism.

The definition of socialism is more than ideology embracing state-run industry, production and businesses. It also includes the percentage of government spending that makes up the Gross Domestic Product. According to Dick Morris when Obama took office, we were at 33% (21% federal spending and 12% state and local government spending). With his stimulus bill, it’s jumped to 39%. This health care bill would take it to 45% and if they pass Cap and Trade in the Senate, the number jumps to 50%. To give you some reference, Germany is at 47% and France is at 52%. Ouch.

The government controls the banks and auto industry. According to a recent Reuters article, they’re considering paying the mortgages of those who can’t afford their homes. The government will buy your home and then you can rent it from the feds. Now they want to control health care. Your medical records will sit in Washington, D.C.

The future of our Republic rests in the hands of a few Blue Dog Democrats who are questioning The Community Organizer in Chief and his minions. Please contact them today, right this second and express your gratitude that they are standing up for real people. Offer them some encouragement. You know our President is putting the squeeze on them.

This is a list of 40 Blue Dog Democrats who signed a letter on July 9 stating that they would not support health care reform unless it was deficit neutral. As a Kansan, I can tell you that Dennis Moore is not to be trusted so I’m not certain any of the rest of these people are worthy leaders, either. I just know that they are at least considering our nation’s future whereas the liberal Democrats are punch drunk on Obamacare Kool-aid.

Though the mainstream media relegates the Iranian protests to a 30-second sound bite here and there, the situation is far from over. In recent weeks protesters have continued to determinedly take to the streets in Tehran. Despite an intensely brutal crackdown by the regime and its constant wall of censorship, the Iranian people are not giving up. They are calling for regime change, sweeping their country in a sea of green. One aspect that really impresses me is their resolve to be non-violent and show compassion for all. The Iranian government’s response has been to beat, kill and imprison its own citizens for daring to question a rigged election. This fight belongs to the Iranians. I don’t think as outsiders we can hope to understand all the political or religious aspects involved. One thing we can understand is common human rights.

In our country, our president would rather support an ousted Honduran wanna-be dictator than stand with Iranians demanding rights and liberty. What will the American people do, however? Who do we stand with? Since June 12, literally all over the globe, free-minded people have rallied in support of the Iranian protesters.

On Saturday, July 25, people everywhere have the opportunity to stand united on Global Day of Action. This is bound to get the media’s attention and bring our leaders’ thoughts away from cramming socialized healthcare down our throats. Maybe they’ll think about others instead of themselves when they see us gathered as a global family, standing up for a member who has been abused for way too long.

You don’t have to do much. Put on something green, maybe make a sign. The important thing is to show up. It’s like an Iranian version of a tea party so you should feel right at home. Stand shoulder to shoulder with other people who want to draw attention to Iran’s totalitarian establishment and the people who fight it. You’ll meet some new people. I readily admit, I don’t usually hang out with the Amnesty International crowd but in this instance, I wholeheartedly agree with them.

For more information check out Global Day of Action information at www.united4iran.org If this sounds like something you can get behind, please spread the word so that our actions are heard in every corner of the world, especially in the streets of Iran.

I know you’ve seen FairTaxers at your tea parties. This is one of the fastest growing political movements in the nation. It taxes only goods you purchase and a prebate covers your taxes on necessities. It is bi-partisan with more and more democrats signing on all the time. This amazing solution was introduced into Congress eight years ago and it’s sitting there, waiting for their attention as H.R. 25.

The FairTax eliminates the need for the IRS. Can you imagine a world without the IRS and its 70,000 page tax code? We don’t need the IRS to fund the country. The FairTax is revenue neutral. It will cover our expenses and eliminate the nasty side effects income tax produces. According to Earl Long, President of FairTax KC, “The fundamental flaw in an income tax system is that it punishes financial success, drives investment capital out of the country and invites evasion and corruption.”

FairTax will encourage companies to invest here, in the United States of America. We will fund our financial system without the government’s help and $2 trillion will return to our shores. The FairTax is also very simple—simple to understand, to obey and to implement. The less complicated a tax system is, the easier it is to maintain and the harder it is to cheat. Maybe it sounds too good to be true or maybe doubters will tell you that financial gurus don’t think it will work.

Earl continues:
The FairTax will work because it has been tested and has a scientific and sound academic basis. There are seven states that do not have an income tax; the most prominent is Texas. The jobs growth rate in Texas is higher than the other 49 states combined and its government leaders give much of the credit to the fact that they have no Income tax. In addition the founders of Americans For Fair Taxation invested over $22 Million of their own money and hired the best economist in the United States to find a tax system that would work. They came up with the FairTax which is now endorsed by 50 of the country’s best economists.

Right now the country’s leaders throw our children’s money at an economy that simply won’t be stimulated by more debt. They do not see the solution sitting right before their eyes. Help them see it. Remind them about H.R. 25, the bill that sits before the House right this second. It has 51 co-sponsors (from both sides of the aisle) who see its potential. Help them spread the word. For kicks and giggles (and to further your FairTax arsenal) take a minute to fill out the FairTax Calculator and watch the dollar signs dance before your eyes.
